Dennis Pyle is a Republican member of the Kansas State Senate representing District 1 since 2005. He won his third reelection to his first district position in northeast Kansas in 2020 and his current term ends on January 13, 2025.

Pyle is currently running for the seat of the Governor of Kansas but as an Independent member. He declared candidacy for the general election scheduled on November 8, 2022.

Dennis Pyle Political Career

Dennis began his political journey when the contested to become a member of the Kansas State House of Representatives in 1996. However, he lost the election. He contested again in 1998 but lost again.

Luckily, he won the election to become a member of the Kansas State House of Representatives in 2001. He was a Kansas Representative for the 49th District from 2001 to 2003. Dennis lost the race for reelection to Republican Scott Schwab.

In 2004, he was elected to the Kansas Senate seat. In 2020, he won his third re-election to his first district position in northeast Kansas with over 70% of the vote.

In 2010, Pyle challenged incumbent Representative Lynn Jenkins in the Republican primary for Kansas’s 2nd congressional district. He received 43% of the vote. He ran again for the seat in a crowded field in 2018, as Jenkins was retiring, but the race was won by self-financed, one-term Republican Steve Watkins.

While in office, Pyle sponsored bills have included a bill promoting trade between Kansas and Taiwan, and a bill regarding income tax credit for some property taxes. Dennis is ranked on the list of most popular Members of The Kansas State Senate. Also ranked in the elite list of famous celebrities born in the United States.

On June 7, 2022, Dennis announced his plan to pursue the office of Governor of Kansas under the Independent Party.
