Karen Bedonie Biography

According to Karen, the reason she’s entering into the gubernatorial race of 2022 is to fight for New Mexico, which has been run dry by bad policy.

In 2019, Karen decided to run an election for U.S. House New Mexico District 3 under the Republican Party. She, however, lost in the primary to Alexis Martinez Johnson.

In 2022, she moved to the Libertarian Party to run an election for Governor of New Mexico. She defeated Ginger Grider in the Libertarian primary for Governor of New Mexico on June 7, 2022. She chose Efren Gallardo, Jr as her running mate.

In her campaign, Karen absolutely opposes income tax. She said, “you work hard for your paycheck, and the government has no right to seize a portion of it each payday.” Neither the old “blue” party nor the old “red” party believes that. If they did, they would have done something about it long ago.

She believes a better alternative to income tax is a consumption tax, such as the Fair Tax. This type of system is easily implemented at the state level. The Libertarian Party of New Mexico strongly believes this type of tax system will reinvigorate the state’s economy while maintaining adequate funding for our state’s spending priorities.

She’s running against incumbent Michelle Lujan Grisham and Mark Ronchetti, both of which are strong contenders with amazing campaign strategies.
