Tom Sherman is an American physician and politician. Being a Democrat, Tom is a member of the New Hampshire Senate for the 24th district. He assumed office on December 5, 2018. His current term ends on December 7, 2022.
Tom was also a former member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Rockingham 24 from 2012 to 2016.
He is currently running for election as Governor of New Hampshire and he will be on the ballot in the upcoming general election on November 8, 2022, after advancing from the Democratic primary on September 13, 2022.

Tom received a bachelor of arts degree in classics from Northwestern University in 1980. He then took classes at Georgetown University to complete his pre-med coursework before receiving his medical degree at the University of Connecticut in 1987.

Tom Sherman Political career
Tom ran and was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives along with fellow Democrat David Borden for the Rockingham 24th district in 2012. He became a member of the Health, Human Services, & Elderly Affairs committee. He and Borden were re-elected in 2014.
In 2016, Tom contested for New Hampshire’s 24th Senate District but lost to Republican incumbent Dan Innis. In 2018, he contested again but won against Dan Innis this time. In 2020, he contested the third time for the seat and won against Republican Lou Gargiulo.
On February 15, 2022, Sherman formed an exploratory committee to run in the 2022 New Hampshire gubernatorial election. On March 14 Sherman officially announced his campaign.
According to him, he is running for Governor because the people of New Hampshire need someone who will focus on finding solutions and building a thriving economy that works for all Granite Staters.
Too many families know what it’s like to question how you’re going to afford child care, pay a medical bill, or cover housing and utilities each month. Tom said when he becomes Governor, helping those families will be his top priority each and every day.
Tom is currently a public office holder but definitely not a match against incumbent governor Chris Sununu, who has had more experience and achievements. Nevertheless, winning the election is determined by the mandate of the people of New Hampshire.
